Lytvyn and Speaker of Turkish Grand National Assembly Arinc Discuss Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation.
Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn and Bulent Arinc, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (parliament), discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation of the two countries. The information office of Rada disclosed this while making reference to a meeting of Lytvyn and Arinc in Ankara. According to the statement, Lytvyn and Arinc gave high assessment of the state of Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation. Lytvyn stated that Ukraine is interested in establishing result-oriented cooperation with Turkey in all spheres. "It is worth uniting the two level of cooperation - governmental and parliamentary, and to make them complimentary," the Ukrainian parliamentary speaker said. Lytvyn also spoke in favor of the need for conducting an inventory of the legislative base of bilateral relations and determination of the prioritized issues of cooperation. The head of the Ukrainian parliament invited Arinc to pay an official visit to Ukraine. For his part, Arinc expressed the hope that the visit of Lytvyn will give significant stimulus to bilateral relations. The head of the Turkish parliament supported the need for intensifying inter-parliamentary ties and transferring of contacts between the parliaments to a regular basis. He also accepted the invitation to visit Ukraine in the near future.
Ukrainian Speaker, Turkish President Discuss Interparliamentary Cooperation In Reaching EU Standards.
Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn and Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer discussed interparliamentary cooperation in reaching European Union standards. The Rada's information department reported this, referring to the Lytvyn-Sezer meeting in Ankara. According to the information department's report, during the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in and further development of bilateral relations, including at the interparliamentary level. Lytvyn and Sezer indicated that interparliamentary cooperation, especially in conditions of holding by both countries of reforms to meet the EU demands, is an important component part of the Ukrainian-Turkish relations, and has a great potential. The Turkish President, in his turn, welcomes Ukraine's positive moves in the EuroAtlantic direction. Sezer assured Lytvyn of Turkey's further support for this policy pursued by Ukraine. Lytvyn stated that Ukraine counts on support for her EuroAtlantic aspirations on the part of Turkey during NATO's Istanbul summit, to be held in June.
