Ukraine And Turkey Agree To Deepen Cooperation.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan signed the Joint Action Plan on Enhanced Co-operation between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey. The Plan regards to strengthening peace, security and stability in the Black Sea region. The Plan also outlines measures with respect to jointly fighting against terrorism and organized crime. The premiers of Ukraine and Turkey agreed to enhance bilateral relations in the transport sector, and in particular, to improve the transit potential of the two countries, and also to cooperate in the energy sector. Besides this, the sides agreed on developing mutual relations in the industrial sector, as well as in trade, agriculture and tourism. The Joint Action Plan also concerns expansion of cooperation in matters relating to European and Euro-Atlantic integration. On Friday, April 2, the Prime ministers of the two countries spoke in favor of expanding trade and economic cooperation.
Ukraine Proposes To Turkey To Cooperate In Outer Space Exploration.
During the meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan, President Leonid Kuchma noted the importance of promoting Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in the area of peaceful space researches. The interlocutors noted the interest in promoting cooperation in the energy and the industrial sectors, and, particularly, in the defense sector. Moreover, Kuchma noted the importance of transferring from trade to joint production, investments and entering the markets of third countries. The President of Ukraine noted the high level of cooperation on the path of integration of Ukraine into NATO and thanked Turkey for its consistent support of Ukraine in this area. Kuchma and Erdogan also discussed international political issues. "Special attention was paid to the need to intensify international efforts in the fight against terrorism and the preparedness of both countries to closely cooperate in this direction," it is mentioned in the statement. The President noted the coinciding of the position of Ukraine and Turkey in the viewing of Iraq's future. The interlocutors noted their countries' interest in cooperation in the rebuilding of Iraq. The parties also discussed the development of cooperation in the issue of settling the Crimea Tatars.
